Our mission

People save videos for good reasons: watching a lecture on a flight, keeping a clip of their own stream, archiving a family upload, or listening to a talk as audio on a run. Most “downloader” sites make this painful with fake buttons, pop-ups and malware. SaveVidr exists to do one job well: paste a link, get your file — nothing else.

How SaveVidr works

When you paste a link, our servers use the open-source yt-dlp engine to read the public video information from that page, the same way your browser does. We list the qualities the original uploader made available. When you choose one, ffmpeg merges or converts the streams (for example to MP4 or MP3) and the file is sent to your browser. The temporary copy on our server is deleted automatically shortly afterwards.

• We don't host, index or store any videos.
• We can't access private, paid, login-only or DRM-protected content — and we don't try to.
• We keep the engine updated daily so links keep working when websites change.

Editorial standards

Our guides are written and reviewed by the SaveVidr Editorial Team — people who build and maintain the downloader and test it on real devices (iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Chromebook). We follow three rules:

1. Accuracy over hype. We only describe what the tool can really do and say plainly what it can't.
2. Tested steps. Instructions are checked on current app and OS versions and updated when menus change.
3. Respect for creators. We remind readers to download only content they own or have permission to save, and we honour takedown requests promptly.

Privacy by design

No accounts, no sign-up, no selling of data. Your recent downloads list is stored only in your own browser. Read our privacy policy for details.
