Quick answer
Why won't my Instagram video download?
Posts from private accounts are only visible to approved, logged-in followers.
- Private accounts
- Stories and Highlights
- Instagram rate limits
- Copied the profile link instead of the post
- Carousel posts
First, check if it's us or the video
The live badge at the top of this page shows whether Instagram downloads are working on SaveVidr right now, based on real downloads in the last 24 hours. If it's green, the problem is almost always the specific video or link.
The most common Instagram problems
- Private accounts. Posts from private accounts are only visible to approved, logged-in followers.
- Stories and Highlights. Stories need a login, so they can't be downloaded.
- Instagram rate limits. Instagram limits how often its public pages can be read. If many people download at once, wait a few minutes.
- Copied the profile link instead of the post. Use the paper-plane icon under the Reel or post → Copy link, not the profile URL.
- Carousel posts. For posts with several items, the video in the shared link is downloaded.
Quick checks
- Copy the link again with Instagram's Share → Copy link button and paste it fresh.
- Open the link in a private browser window — if Instagram asks you to log in, the video can't be downloaded.
- Pick a lower quality (720p) or cut a shorter clip if a large file times out.
- Opened SaveVidr inside another app? Use Chrome or Safari instead of the in-app browser.
