Quick answer

Why won't my YouTube video download?

YouTube sometimes asks servers to “confirm you're not a bot”. When that happens every downloader is affected for a while; our status box above shows it in real time.

YouTube's bot check
Age-restricted videos
Members-only, private and Premium content
Live streams
4K plays without sound or won't open

First, check if it's us or the video

The live badge at the top of this page shows whether YouTube downloads are working on SaveVidr right now, based on real downloads in the last 24 hours. If it's green, the problem is almost always the specific video or link.

The most common YouTube problems

YouTube's bot check. YouTube sometimes asks servers to “confirm you're not a bot”. When that happens every downloader is affected for a while; our status box above shows it in real time.
Age-restricted videos. Videos marked 18+ need a signed-in account, so they can't be downloaded.
Members-only, private and Premium content. Channel memberships, private videos and YouTube Premium-only music can't be saved.
Live streams. A stream that is still live can only be saved after it ends and YouTube has processed the replay.
4K plays without sound or won't open. 1440p/4K often uses VP9 or AV1. Play it in VLC, or choose 1080p for maximum compatibility.

Quick checks

Copy the link again with YouTube's Share → Copy link button and paste it fresh.
Open the link in a private browser window — if YouTube asks you to log in, the video can't be downloaded.
Pick a lower quality (720p) or cut a shorter clip if a large file times out.
Opened SaveVidr inside another app? Use Chrome or Safari instead of the in-app browser.
